Swine Flu During the Summer Months

Swine Flu
July 14, 2009

Although School is out, summer schools and camps are in session, but the Onondaga Health Department tells us not to be fearful about the Swine flu because it is not as severe as we once thought it would be. In Onondaga County there have been 93 confirmed cases and 31 hospitalizations from the swine flu since the month of April, however the Onondaga County Health Department has created easy prevention tips that have made the public panic about swine flu die down.
H1N1 Program coordinator, Kathy Mogle explains very simple tips that we may easily overlook on a daily basis; such as washing hands, covering mouths when you cough, or just simply staying home when your not feeling well. Mogle says, “Camp directors have been more conscientious about their hygiene preparations.” This summer they are focusing on hand cleanliness and respiratory precautions.
