July 27, 2009

By John Garcia Jr.

An Oswego man has been charged with two counts of sexual abuse. Joseph V. Thompson repeatedly abused the same elementary school girl between July 2007 and Spring 2009.

The Oswego County Sheriff's Department made the arrest on Saturday.

"We aggressively act on any complaints we get either directly through the District Attorney's office, or through the department of social services," said Oswego County Under-Sheriff Robert Lighthall.

Thompson was charged with sexual conduct against a child, which is a felony. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
