Jazz and Wine

Jazz in the Square is re-invented to become the Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival

July 21, 2009

CNY Jazz Central has reinvented their well-known festival Jazz in the Square. They’ve added wine-tasting to the venue and re-christened it the Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival. Larry Luttinger, festival organizer and Executive Director of CNY Jazz Central says the combination makes this festival one of a kind, at least on the east coast. “Our research told us that these things are pretty rare and most of them take place in California and there is one in the Rocky Mountains as well. There are no multi-day jazz and wine festivals in the northeast. There certainly are jazz and wine events but nothing of this scale.” Tastings will take place in the Wines of the World Atrium building adjacent to the festival grounds in Clinton Square. Admission to the festival is free but separate passes must be purchased to enjoy the wine tastings, which will be guided by local and regional wine experts. Another first for the festival is a partnership with the Onondaga/Oswego chapter of the Red Cross. They will be donating volunteers to help with the wine tasting and both Jazz Central and the Red Cross will share those profits. The Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival runs Thursday to Saturday.
