Even with the tax incentive for first time home buyers, Home HeadQuarters group in Syracuse, says they have seen little change in the number of home buyers that use their services this year.

Home HeadQuarters is a non-profit organization. They offer home-ownership and financial classes, to teach buyers the responsibilities that come with owning a home.

Karen Schroeder, Marketing and Development Manager, says their main challenge is getting mortgages for home buyers.
"The banks have not really come back from this economic crisis yet, so we are seeing mortgages taking months, if they ever get approved. Or people that have pre-approvals and then all of a sudden when it comes down to actually signing, the bank falls through," says Schroeder.

Despite the economic setback, Schroeder says the educational classes they offer are always full. Home HeadQuarters' main goal is to help create better home buyers through education and help home owners avoid foreclosure.
