O’Brien – With the month of June seeing nearly 20 days of rain, the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau president, David Holder says the weather has hurt tourism more than the economy.

"It has had an impact on our parks and people getting outdoors, " Holder says.
"You’re not necessarily going to go water skiing when it's high 60's and rainy."

Holder knows that Syracuse tourism has also been hit some by the economy.
However, he says the marketing plan the Visitors Bureau implemented in 2008 has helped with the Bureau already getting some good numbers on the books for 2009. In 2008, The Bureau said nearly 30% percent of trips have already been planned for the spring and summer of 2009.

The Bureau said targeting three specific markets in 2008, Scranton Wilkes-Barre, Ottawa and Albany helped bring in 26,000 additional visitors and over $4 million in
visitor spending to Syracuse.
