In a news conference held at Syracuse University, Democratic mayoral candidate, Joe Nicoletti, said he has new plans to modernize the Syracuse city government. Nicoletti says, "Government modernization, sustainability, and consolidation is the wave of the future" and said the city is due for a new system because the present system has been around since the 1960's. Nicoletti said that projects like DestiNY USA are important for jobs and building structures that are environmentally friendly. This is Nicoletti's third attempt at becoming mayor of Syracuse, but he feels confident about his chances to win this year. The primaries will take place on September 15th while the election is set for November 3rd.
