SYRACUSE -- Democratic mayoral candidate Joe Nicoletti was at Syracuse University Wednesday to announce his plan to change how Syracuse's city government operates.

Nicoletti, a longtime city councilor-at-large and state assemblyman said he wants to share duplicate offices and services such as snow removal and public landscaping with outside communities. The 61-year-old, who lost mayoral bids in 1985 and 1993 said changes like that would create jobs and investment opportunities within the city. He said it's in line with modern changes from other cities.

"People are actually looking for a change," Nicoletti said. "And are looking at it from a financial position."

There are three Democratic candidates including Nicoletti. Stephanie Miner and Alfonso Davis are also in the mix for the nomination, which will be decided in a September 15 election.
