Democratic mayoral candidate Joe Nicoletti announced the restructuring and modernization plan for Syracuse Government. Nicoletti held a news conference at Syracuse University this morning.

The changes would be implemented if the SU grad and Syracuse native is voted into office this fall. “It’s the 21st century and yet we are still operating with a government structure that hasn’t been significantly changed since the 1960’s," said Nicoletti.

Modernization plans would include going green initiatives as well as taking a harder stance on promoting diversity. Syracuse economy and prestige were highlighted along with a proposition for teamwork between the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County. “Why aren’t we cutting grass together in our city parks, our county parks?” said Nicoletti.

Nicoletti is one of three Democratic candidates up for the party’s nomination. The primary is in September followed by the general election in November. The campaign is Nicoletti’s third attempt at the mayoral office.
