Mayoral Candidate Announces New Plan for City Government

7/22/2009
Syracuse - Syracuse Mayoral candidate Joe Nicoletti held a news conference today announcing his plan for modernizing the city’s government. The governmental structure of the city of Syracuse has not been revamped for fifty years and in order to compete for state and federal funding the structure needs to be modernized says Nicoletti. One way he plans to do this is by working with other area governments to consolidate programs and in turn cutting costs. By working with other area governments to cut redundant spending local government can end its dependence on state and federal funding says Nicoletti.

“If the city of Syracuse purchase five snow plows a year and the county of Onondaga purchase ten…If we purchases 15 together aren’t we getting a better deal?” Nicoletti said.

Nicoletti is one of three Democratic candidates race for Mayor. This is his third time running for the office.
