No Majors, No Big Deal

Despite not winning a major, Tiger is still impressive

Tiger Woods has won 3 times on the PGA tour this year. More than any other golfer. But he is still missing a Major championship in 2009. Which brings me to my question, is the year tiger having impressive? Or are his three wins being overshadowed by missing the cut at Turnburry or his disappointing first round at Bethpage? And the answer is, it is still VERY impressive.
The fact that Tiger has not won a major championship does not take away that he has won more than any other golfer. There are good tour players who haven't won three times on tour in their whole career! And don't forget there is still one more major this year and a lot more golf to played. If he can win the PGA championship in two weeks and win a few more tournaments I believe it will be one of his most impressive seasons of his career.

Why? Because he missed almost all of last season with knee surgery and his still winning. And to be honest who cares that he didn't make the cut at the British Open? Can we give the guy a break? It's only his second time missing the cut in a major championship since he turned pro and his last missed cut was at the 2006 U.S. open. A month after his father died.

Among all-time Greats
So I understand the fact that everyone wants Tiger Woods to be teeing off in the last group for every major championship. But it isn't going to happen. Even though he is only four major championships behind Jack Nicklaus who was 18, I think people down play the fact he is only 13 career wins behind career leader Sam Snead who has 82 victories. Tiger got his 69th victory at the age of 33. And that is eight years younger then when Snead won his.

Could be best season yet
I already mentioned his wins but don't forget his eight top ten finishes and he that he stands alone a top the money list for all tour players. So to downplay what he has done this year because he has not preformed like Tiger in this years Majors? Is absolutely crazy. If he can tack on a win at Firestone next week, and play well in the final major of the year. I think it will be one of this most impressive seasons for tiger ever.
