Staycations good for business
A spokesperson for a local YMCA, says they are seeing more traffic this summer throughout their facilities. Less people are heading out of town for vacation and are "staycationing" at home and participating in acitivities at the Y. Director of the Liverpool YMCA, Tess Kenney says because of staycations there has been more traffic coming through the Y, "they're bringing their kids in because they're not taking family trips at all. they're coming in and using the facility when are pool has open swim so they can bring their kids in swimming. They are using our gym a lot more to play basketball."

Utilizing Memberships

Members are starting to take more advantage of what their membership includes. Director Kenney says members pay a monthly fee of $67.50 and they are starting to show up more often, "more and more people are using the facilities even at night time and on weekends when they are with their kids. because its built right into their membership. Everything is pretty much free here."
It's not actually free because of the monthly payment. But it includes the use of the pool, gym and kids get free swim lessons and all families can take part in a family fun day.

YMCA event cancelled

Tess Kenney says the economy is still affecting business some. Today, The Liverpool YMCA had to cancel its annual trip for teens to Seabreeze Amusement park which was supposed to be tomorrow. She said not enough people signed up, " we have to have a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 40. As of today we only had 7. We haven't changed are prices over the years, but i just think people are cutting back."
