Bassmasters is Back!

8/4/2009

By Matt Granato

Get excited anglers! Next week the Bassmaster tour returns to Syracuse. Starting on Thursday over 100 of the worlds most skilled fishermen will compete on Oneida Lake in the Bassmaster fishing competition. The competition lasts four days, and the winner walks away with a $40,000.00 dollar prize as well as bragging rights.

The Rules

The tournament runs over a four day period, however all competitors won't make it until the end. The Bassmasters works as an elimination competition. Each day the competitors begin at 6 a.m. and will weigh in periodically throughout the day. Those with the lease amount of weight get eliminated first. After the first day of competition only 50 fishermen will remain. Finally by the last day of the event, only the final 12 will be allowed to fish and weigh in on the lake.

Spectators

Gary Lopez of the Oneida Park says that the event is free to all spectators, and anyone who follows fishing will recognize the names that are coming to Oneida Lake next week. This tournament will be the final stop on the Bassmasters summer tour.
