Onondaga Creek, a polluted waterway in Central New York receives a state grant.
N.Y. state provided half a million dollars to develop the creek for waterfront dining and housing, according to the city's urban planner.
The city of Syracuse will apply for future funding from the state to continue the project.
Syracuse has yet to receive the funding due to the national economy, according to S.R. Urban Planner Steve Kearney.
Kearny says Onondaga Creek needs to be cleaned up first and then it will become an economic incentive for the city.
