Media Unit Preforms at Skiddy Park

Syracuse – Syracuse area youth group the Media Unit is touring around local parks this summer performing its newest show “Angels with Broken Wings: The Lost”, a half hour performance about the effects of gang violence on a community. This past Monday the Media Unit preformed for about 15 kids at Skiddy Park on the city’s Near West side. After the performance Jessica Huertas, the Summer Director of Skiddy Park, said

“It’s a really good program I love it when they come to our park…we don’t have the best of community but it really helps the kids to stay off the streets.”

The Media Unit is a group that prepares teenagers to work in media by having them produce and act in shows with social messages. This summer both the Media Unit’s teenage talent and the crew are being paid through various grants. The group says that about 80% of participants go on to work in media fields.
