Increase in Children's Injuries
A new study in the September issue of Pediatrics found a 150 percent increase in injuries during physical education class from 1997 to 2007. Despite the numbers, there are many ways to avoid injuries during exercise. "Proper precautions to avoid injuries would include certain stretching, before and after exercising, a good warmup, which is consists of 8 to 10 minutes long," personal trainer at Planet Fitness, Casey Clendenin said.

What Kids should Do to be Safe
"Even with kids, a good warmup, gets all of the blood flowing, stretching is good for children as well, avoid, you know, playing sports in the cold."

- give kids a proper diet
- encourage an active lifestyle
- prevent kids from doing weight training
