SYRACUSE -- Individual game tickets for Syracuse University football went on sale at 10 a.m., Wednesday morning. Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director Scott Sidwell said the school started selling season tickets last spring and have sold 20,000 this season. That's 2,000 more tickets sold this year than at this time last year.
Sidwell said about 800 individual tickets were sold on Wednesday.
The Marrone Affect?
When the day began, Senior Associate Athletic Director Pat Campbell said the school hoped the hiring of new head coach Doug Marrone would boost sales. The Orange went 3-9 last season and had about 20,000 empty seats at each game. The Carrier Dome holds just under 50,000.
"With Doug Marrone, we're confident that he's the right guy for the position," Campbell said, "and eventually we'll start seeing some wins."
