Lakeland’s Own Torch Lighting Ceremony

8/4/2009The Syracuse area might never host an Olympics, but the Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurant in Lakeland is hosting games of their own...redneck games that is. The first ever Redneck Games will take place at the Quaker Steak and Lube Saturday Afternoon. Event Organizer Katie Rapp said the event is going to be much larger than expected, more than sixty people have already signed up, and she says many more will sign up on Saturday. The event will even have its own torch lighting ceremony.
Fabulous Games and Prizes
Contestants will compete for prizes in eleven events such as Dumpster Diving and Toilet Seat Tossing. The overall winner will receive a custom made ride-on-lawnmower, says Rapp. Registration is free, and so is watching. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best redneck attire.
“I am really looking forward to seeing some of these contestants and what they decided to come dressed in, I'm sure people will be going all out for this event,” said Rapp.
The Redneck Games will take place at the Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurant in Lakeland. Events will start at 3 P.M. For more information visit their website.
